This year we are running our traditional buckskin tanning course (12th-15th of August 2024) back to back with our traditional bark tanning course (16-18th).
Which can be booked separately or together for a full week long immersion into traditional Scottish hide tanning skills. (Discount on combined course bookings)

– Producing your own beautifully tanned buckskin leather, bark tan sheepskins and bark tan salmon leather you can use to make traditional sporrans, bags, bed rolls, clothing and more…

– Crafting tools from stone and other natural materials
– Relax in our wood fired sauna surrounded by Scottish mountains and fresh mountain air
– Staying next to a Highland Loch surrounded by ancient woodland and beautiful mountains
– Evenings around the campfire
– Becoming part of a primitive skills community
– Beautiful Scottish surroundings, including woodland hikes and ancient Scottish sites such as prehistoric stone carvings, the Falls of Acharn stone circle, iron age hill forts, Creag na Cailleach (the mountain of the Cailleach where stone axes were once mined) old copper sites and the Fortingall Yew (one of the oldest trees in Britain)
These courses are suitable for beginners, advanced tanners and previous participants.
