Our Process

Our sustainable process focuses on utilising waste materials from the farming and forestry businesses to produce high-quality leather. Through our process we utilise by-products to nourish the landscape.

Our process to produce our sustainably tanned hides involve various traditional processes, including limestone submersion, hand scraping hides to remove the hair and then re washing in preparation for tanning.
Hides are then tanned through submersion in a solution for anywhere up to 12 months, made from locally harvest barks including Oak, Willow, Spruce, Birch, Tormentil and various other tannin rich sources.
Hides are then soften through the application of natural fats and oils such as neatsfoot and tallow.

The following diagram shows our environmentally friendly process and our zero waste approach.
